I’m where I am, because of Twitter
It’s pretty cool for me to look back over the last 3 years of my secular career
and see what I’ve accomplished. But what’s even more amazing, is that ALL, yes ALL of the amazing stuff that I have been, and am currently involved in, is as a direct result of the contacts I’ve made on Twitter.
Right now in my life, I’m working with The Forge. Before that, I was running The Yellow Llama. In that role, I did a little work for Vodacom, some big players in the industry, a radio station and a bunch of other exciting projects.
The first exciting project I got was as a result of @TylerReed. We did some work together on a project for Incredible Connection, Vodacom and WordCamp.
@JasonZoopy then used me for a while (before taking his work inhouse) to do designs of some of the Zoopy custom pages.
Then it was @MikeStopforth who put me in contact with a local radio station that we worked along with for a few months.
Most recently, it was a tweet by @cow_grrrl that got me involved with The Forge for a 2 month contract. During that time they made an offer I couldn’t refuse and now I’m working full time with them.
Say what you want about LinkedIn being for business and Twitter being for fun, it’s a helluva networking tool and without it, I know I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am today.
